The Elizabeth Fry Society offers unique learning experiences for students requiring practicum experience. We routinely have students from a variety of institutions doing their practicum at our office. In the past, students have come from social work, nursing, criminology, youth care, and addictions programs. Our office staff has a diverse range of educational and professional backgrounds from which the students can learn from.

While a student here, you can gain vital work experience at a community-based organization. Here are some examples of previous experiences students have had while doing their practicum here:

  • Prison in-reach (regular visits to Pinegrove Correctional);
  • Weekly Sharing Circle;
  • Provide one-on-one drop-in support to clients in the community;
  • Shadow a Court worker;
  • Attend various meetings, workshops and events as part of the EFry team; and,
  • Office Administrative Experience.
